Aid funds for those affected by the war in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the Mast family, their foundations and the company Mast-Jägermeister SE have planned the most direct and effective aid possible to benefit those affected – emergency aid was quickly made available.

Bayadera, Mast-Jägermeister’s distribution partner in Ukraine, no longer has the means to pay its employees due to the ongoing acts of war and the resulting total loss of business. In order not to leave the people who have already been massively affected by the war destitute as well, the team of the Mast family, their foundations and company has provided the partner Bayadera with a six-figure sum as emergency aid. The money has since been disbursed to the team on the ground.

Further substantial financial resources are going to the subsidiaries of Mast-Jägermeister SE in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Here, too, urgently needed direct help is being provided for refugees. The employees on site coordinate the measures and implement the aid directly.

Jägermeister has stopped all marketing and communication measures in Russia and has now also completely suspended deliveries to Russia. Of course, this is also a difficult situation for the employees in Russia. In order to ensure that the company is still able to pay the salaries of its colleagues despite the sanctions in the banking sector, sufficient financial resources have already been transferred in advance for the coming months.

In addition to these direct measures, further substantial financial aid will go to UNICEF, the German Red Cross, and the SOS Children’s Villages, which have already been working in close cooperation with the foundations of the Mast family for many years and, thanks to their experience and structure, can very effectively ensure that the funds are used exactly where they are most urgently needed.

In addition, Katapult Magazine and the associations “Reporters without Borders” and Netzwerk Recherche e.V. were financially supported, because the commitment to reporting as extensively as possible from the crisis area and the support of independent journalists are essential aspects in dealing with the war events and their terrible consequences.

Further funds go to the organisations krisenchat, an organization that offers young people under the age of 25 free professional chat advice 24/7 in crisis situations, and to #Unterzimmer Ukraine, an alliance of mission-oriented organizations around gut.org gAG, which has meanwhile activated over 280,000 free, private shelters.

There are also numerous other commitments by the Mast family. For example, in Hamburg and in the district of Wolfenbüttel the family has provided accommodation for refugees and, in close cooperation with its foundations and Mast-Jägermeister SE, has set up the Braunschweig organization “Freie Ukraine e. V.” with the complete assumption of the costs of an ambulance, which is loaded with urgently needed medicines and medical equipment and left to the clinic partners of the organization in the Ukraine. At the same time, the employees of the company and the foundation make a valuable contribution to supporting the people concerned with their great commitment.
